MadeSimple Teacher Pensions After 1995-Pre-2004

Have you joined the public service after the 5th of April, 1995, but before the 1st of April, 2004? Well, if so, this video gives you some information on your pension scheme and how it’s calculated.

So under this pension, generally your normal retirement age is 60 and you are on the A rate of PRSI. And what that means is that when you retire, you’ll be entitled to some pension from your employer and you’ll also have an entitlement to the contributory state pension from the Department of Social Protection.

You are allowed to retire at any stage from age 60, but for teachers, you also have the option where you have it reached at least 55 years of age and have a minimum 33 or 34 years pensionable service, you can retire from age 55 years on.
